Sponsorship agreement holder (SAH)

No one is a refugee by choice.

Refugees are forced to flee out of fear for their lives and liberty.

In February 2016, the Cowichan Intercultural Society received approval from Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) to become a Sponsorship Agreement Holder (SAH).

SAHs assume overall responsibility and liability for the management of sponsorships under their agreement. SAHs can authorize other groups in the community to sponsor refugees under their agreements.

a model for the world

Canada was the first country in the world to have a refugee sponsorship program where private citizens and communities are directly involved in the resettlement of refugees from abroad. It has become a model for other countries around the world.

Please contact us if you are interested in taking action to assist refugees.
